Macy's 1st Annual Fall Fashion Extravaganza- Sneak Peek

This weekend I had the opportunity to work with Chris and two other photographers (David Beasley Jr and Monte Holiday) to capture a wonderful event at our local Macy's. The local models rehearsed for the show for over a month, working with Sofia Reed of Macy's and professional model Terrance L. There was live music during the show and even a walk down the runway by Senator Dan Brady and the Corn Belters Mascot.
This years show was amazing, I can't wait to see what they do next year! Here is a "Sneak Peek" from the event! More to come soon!

The Birthday Girl- Raimi

During my trip to Louisiana, I was lucky enough to spend sometime with this little princess on her 5th birthday. It was really hot and humid so I planned a morning shoot not realizing it wouldn't matter, it was going to be hot anyway. My friend and local photographer, Beth Williamson, joined Chris and I for the photoshoot. (we all sweated our behinds off!)
Raimi was a ball of energy and chatted our ears off. Who wouldn't be excited, it was her big day! We ran around the city park and Raimi even made friends with a couple of ducks. She looks so much like her mom did when we were little!

Raimi, I hope the rest of your day was great! Chris and I, went home, took a shower and tried to stay indoors where it was not as hot.

I hope you enjoy these photos!

The Big Day! Stephanie and John

These two were so cute! From a distance they seemed calm, cool and collected...but when you got up close they were so nervous and so in love. Stephanie and John, along with their family and friends spent the afternoon celebrating their love for one another. It was great to be a part of it all! I don't typically cry at weddings but I have to say that I got a little choked up.
Here are a few photos of the day!

Stephanie and John,

Chris and I wish you both the very best!

Loud and Fast Across the Swamp

For the last 15 years everytime we would cross over the Atchafalaya Basin on I-10, my husband would say how much he enjoyed seeing the sun come up or set on the water. In all those years he had never been down in the basin, only above travelling to Lafayette.
If you are unfamiliar with the Atchafalaya Basin, it is the largest swamp in the United States located in south central Louisiana and is home to a large variety of wildlife. (see wikipedia for more info...)
It is beautiful but I think growing up in that area I just never really thought much of going out in the basin. Often while visiting he would say how he thought it would be fun to take an airboat out on the water. I had called several times in the past about tours but I was always unable to find someone doing personal tours on an airboat that were reasonably priced. Being a photographer I wanted a tour where I could stop and take photos without others in the way.
This time while visting my parents mentioned McGee's Landing, so I called them up and booked a tour for that afternoon. The tour was fun, our guide was very nice and informative, and it was wonderful to see the smiles on my husband and son's faces. (Especially when our guide took us from water to grass..haha)
I hope everyone enjoys the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. I am really hoping to go back next time we are home.

This is a huge Osprey's nest and we got lucky to catch a photo of one on the water.

For some reason I just love the texture of the Cypress Tree.
