Loud and Fast Across the Swamp

For the last 15 years everytime we would cross over the Atchafalaya Basin on I-10, my husband would say how much he enjoyed seeing the sun come up or set on the water. In all those years he had never been down in the basin, only above travelling to Lafayette.
If you are unfamiliar with the Atchafalaya Basin, it is the largest swamp in the United States located in south central Louisiana and is home to a large variety of wildlife. (see wikipedia for more info...)
It is beautiful but I think growing up in that area I just never really thought much of going out in the basin. Often while visiting he would say how he thought it would be fun to take an airboat out on the water. I had called several times in the past about tours but I was always unable to find someone doing personal tours on an airboat that were reasonably priced. Being a photographer I wanted a tour where I could stop and take photos without others in the way.
This time while visting my parents mentioned McGee's Landing, so I called them up and booked a tour for that afternoon. The tour was fun, our guide was very nice and informative, and it was wonderful to see the smiles on my husband and son's faces. (Especially when our guide took us from water to grass..haha)
I hope everyone enjoys the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. I am really hoping to go back next time we are home.

Angel

This is a huge Osprey's nest and we got lucky to catch a photo of one on the water.

For some reason I just love the texture of the Cypress Tree.
